Meta app data deletion
Last updated: 19 August 2026
This page explains how to have information associated with the Mars Outpost Social Publisher application removed. It applies to our internal business tool, which authorised Mars Outpost staff use to publish approved content to the Mars Outpost Facebook Page and linked Instagram professional account. For background on how we handle information, see our Privacy policy.
1. Remove the Meta connection
You can remove the application through your Facebook or Meta settings:
- open your Facebook or Meta account settings;
- find "Apps and websites" or "Business integrations";
- select "Mars Outpost Social Publisher";
- choose Remove or Revoke.
Meta may change the wording or location of these controls from time to time.
2. Request deletion from Mars Outpost
To ask us to delete information held about the connection, email info@marsoutpost.net.
Suggested subject line: Mars Outpost Social Publisher data deletion request.
Please include only:
- your name;
- the Facebook Page or Instagram professional account concerned;
- enough information to identify the relevant app connection or publication;
- a description of what you would like deleted.
Please do not send passwords, access tokens, recovery codes or any other account credentials. We do not need them, and you should never share them by email.
3. What Mars Outpost will do
When we receive a request, we will:
- confirm that we have received it;
- verify your identity, or your authority to make the request, where necessary;
- identify the information associated with the app connection;
- delete or anonymise information that we are not required to retain;
- revoke or remove stored access credentials where applicable;
- confirm the outcome within the applicable legal time limits.
4. Published social content
Revoking the application, or deleting our internal app data, does not automatically delete Facebook or Instagram posts that have already been published.
A request to remove a published business post needs to identify the specific post. We will verify your authority, and consider any applicable business, legal or record-keeping requirements, before we change or remove it. Published business posts are not removed automatically; a member of staff reviews each request.
5. Information that may be retained
We may keep limited information where it is reasonably necessary for:
- meeting legal obligations;
- security and fraud prevention;
- resolving disputes;
- demonstrating that a deletion request was completed;
- protecting against accidental duplicate publication.
We retain only the minimum information reasonably necessary for these purposes and only for as long as the relevant purpose or legal requirement applies.
