These use a serious industrial-strength adhesive, not a peel-and-restick pad. That’s what lets them grip a phone or small tablet without drooping — but it also means they’re built to stay put. On an emulsion-painted or papered wall the adhesive can lift the paint or paper when you take it off, so treat each one as semi-permanent and put it somewhere you’re happy to keep it.

Best on hard, sealed surfaces
Tile, glass, a mirror, metal or gloss-painted wood are where they grip best and come away cleanest — think kitchen splashback, bathroom mirror, shower screen or the side of a metal cabinet. Wipe the surface to cut any grease, press firmly, and leave it a few hours before you hang anything on it.
