We make our adjustable wall brackets in two sizes: 17–54mm and 22–87mm. The only thing that decides which one you need is how thick your box is. Brand doesn't matter, and nor do the width or the depth. This guide shows how to measure it properly and lists the real thickness of the boxes we get asked about most.
Short on time? Measure how thick your box is, rubber feet included, and pick the set:

The brackets clamp the box against the wall, so the number that matters is the distance from the face touching the wall to the face the thumbscrews press on. On a recorder or router that normally sits on a desk, that's its height, the smallest of its three dimensions.
- Sit the box on a table the way it normally stands.
- Measure from the table to the top of the case with the rubber feet on. The feet end up against the wall, so they count.
- If the top isn't flat, measure to the highest point of the area the thumbscrews will press on, near the edges.
Spec sheets usually give the height without the feet, or round it. They're good for a first check, but measure the box in your hand before you order.

The thumbscrews take up the thickness. They press on the front face of the box, so the measurement that counts is from the wall to that face.
Which set?
- Under 22mm: the 17–54mm set. Screw the spacers onto the ends of the thumbscrews to extend them, so they reach the box.
- 22–54mm: both sets fit. Choose the one that puts your box in the middle of its range rather than at one end, so you keep some adjustment either way. In practice: up to about 45mm, the standard set; over that, the large one is more comfortable.
- 54–87mm: the 22–87mm set.
- Over 87mm: neither. Have a look at our custom printing service.
Common boxes and their thickness
These figures come from each manufacturer's published dimensions. They're a guide, not a substitute for your tape measure, because revisions and feet vary.
| Device | Type | Thickness | Set |
|---|---|---|---|

| BT Smart Hub 2 | Broadband router | 30mm | 17–54mm |
| Sky Q 2TB (earlier / later version) | TV box | 35mm / 43mm | 17–54mm |
| Lenovo ThinkCentre M70q Tiny | Mini PC | 36.5mm | 17–54mm |

| Hikvision DS-7716NI-K4 | 16-channel NVR, 4 drives | 71mm | 22–87mm |
The two boxes marked "measure" are 52 and 53mm on paper. With their feet on, they can come in at or just over 54mm, which leaves the standard set with nothing to spare. The large set takes them easily.

Large Adjustable Wall Brackets – 22–87mm
For deeper boxes, 22 to 87mm thick: multi-drive NVRs, chunkier routers and anything the standard set can't reach around. Same PETG plastic, same complete fixing kit.
View the 22–87mm setWhy both sets are plastic
A fixed metal bracket fits one thickness. Ours are 3D-printed in PETG plastic, which lets us shape an arm with a thumbscrew that adjusts across a 37mm or 65mm range. That's why one set can follow you from an old recorder to a new one. They're rigid once tightened. They're not steel, and we say so on every listing, because people have been caught out by assuming otherwise.
Frequently asked questions
Does the width or length of the box matter?
Not to the clamp. Each bracket grips the thickness only, and the three brackets are separate, so you spread them along the edges to suit the box. A 445mm-wide recorder is as easy as a 160mm switch. That's the main difference from most recorder brackets, which have a fixed width and get awkward with long or tall units.
My box is 54mm exactly. Which set?
The large one. At the very end of a range there's no adjustment left for a slightly uneven case or a fatter foot.
What about games consoles?
Every PlayStation 5 so far is more than 90mm thick, so it won't fit either set. An Xbox Series S is 63.5mm, inside the large range on thickness alone. Consoles are heavy for their size and run hot, though, so we'd rather you asked us before using these on one.
My router stands upright on a base. How do I measure it?
Measure the body, not the stand. Take the base off if it comes off. The bracket only ever holds the main case.
I've got two boxes. Can one set hold both?
No. A set of three is for one box. Two boxes need two sets, and they don't need to be the same size.
